CLARKOS PERFORMANCE – some info re holley bases for 2bbl carbys, does putting a bigger base on the carby help CFM???
more CFM through same ventury size = higher air speed = more torque

   Today we were compairing apples for apples on a flow bench
350 2bbl holley carby
350 body 500 base flows x amount
350 body 650 base flows 3.2% gain in CFM
350 body 48mm butterflys 2.2% gain from 650 holley 2 bbl base (total 6.4% total gain)
also note the max the carby will flow with no shaft etc is same as 48mm butterflys
(cant push anymore air through it)

500 body 500 base flows x amount
500 body 650 base 3.7% gain in CFM
500 body with 48mm butterflys 4.1% gain from the 650 base (7.8% total gain )

so 7.8% may not sound like a lot but these 500  cfm carbys actually flow about 630 ish when we do the boosters and other things x 7.9% gain is like 50 CFM more making the carby near 680 CFM

(please note u cant just bolt a base on other work is required) 

My next step now is to take car to dyno, and get some dyno back to back data, in real life

350 with 500 base or 500 with 500 base

Clarko was also trying out some new race car parts to add to the growing list, so yes these new parts have been tested under race conditions

The throttle sponge is a unique product. I developed it as there has been a demand for a form of traction aid in the legal form. There are many ways to aid in traction. You can electronically control through msd or wheel sensors. Thees may be great means but, they sure hit the pocket book hard. The throttle sponge takes care of the problem right at the carb. It slow and softens the reaction to the gas pedal. It is very cheap for the gains. You can spend thousands for traction control or under 60 dollar you could knock a couple of tenth of a second off lap times. The nice part of the sponge is if you get to a track where you don’t want it on you can move a clip and turn it off as if you have a solid linkage. Not only can you turn it off you can change the amont of sponge you are getting. The most important part of the sponge is to adjust the proper amont of return spring strength. My spring that I put in there is designed for the standard 2 springs that are available at most auto parts stores. This will determine how fast it react.This product has been used on both east and west coast of Australia. It is also available been used all over the USA.
